What it is
NailKey is an advanced laboratory assessment for nail samples that looks for microbial patterns potentially associated with chronic or hard-to-resolve nail issues. It screens for both bacterial and fungal organisms, providing lab-based information that can complement clinical conversations.
How it works
qPCR Report (targeted, quantitative):
Quantifies bacterial load, detects selected bacterial and fungal targets, and screens for 17 antimicrobial resistance (AMR) genes reported by the lab.
NGS Report (broad, high-resolution):
Uses next-generation sequencing to profile a very wide range of organisms (lab panels report up to tens of thousands of microbial species/taxa), offering broader context beyond targeted assays.

Presence of fungal organisms commonly discussed in relation to nail problems.
Bacterial contributors that may coexist with or mimic fungal involvement.
AMR gene screening (qPCR) to indicate resistance markers detected by the lab in vitro.
